Dana LaCroix & Murali Coryell
The Blues Duo That Packs A Punch

 The Daily Star

Bio / Press Release

Take a pint-sized powerhouse with a voice like liquid sandpaper, add a seasoned, soulful bluesman and what do you get? Murali Coryell and Dana LaCroix; a hard-hitting blues duo that can seduce listeners with a deep, funky groove, or rock a room with standard foot-stompers until last call.  MC’s soulful vocals and world-class blues guitar playing are offset by LaCroix’s ‘don’t mess with me’ attitude and a powerful, gritty voice that belies her small stature. Together they offer an acoustic take on classic blues that audiences find irresistible.

The pair met by accident years ago at a club in NYC. They crossed paths again years later. ‘I moved up north of the city to the Woodstock area a few years ago and happened to check out Murali’s website. I realized he lived close by and called him up to see if he wanted to do some playing”.  Needless to say, he did, and the Coryell-LaCroix duo was born. The two have since played shows, made recordings and written songs together, combining their collective roots into a sound that is as authentic as it is contemporary.

A seasoned singer and guitarist, Coryell, son of guitar legend Larry Coryell, grew up around the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, & Carlos Santana. His song ‘I Was In The Room With Jimmy’ tells how Jimmy Hendrix serenaded him with some licks as he lay in his cradle backstage at the 1968 Woodstock Festival. Coryell has shared the stage with such legendary artists as B.B. King, Buddy Guy and George Thorogood.  Dubbed “one promising new hound” by the Rolling Stone Magazine, he was recently inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame and has received accolades from Billboard, Guitar Player Magazine and Living Blues Radio....
